Local craft brewery launching free group bike ride series

Jack McLaughlin

One of the city’s original craft breweries is launching an exciting new project, especially if biking is your thing.

Last Thursday, Columbus Brewing Co. held its first ever community bike ride. The event, which is ongoing, will take place on the first Thursday of each month.

Riders can register for free here.

According to Columbus Brewing Vice President of Marketing Evan Magliocca, the rides will likely be limited to 100 people for each. Both Franklinton Cycle Works and Roll bike shops will attend the events as well. Each ride will be 15-20 miles on a low-intensity course that will change each month.

“This is something we’ve done internally for a while, and we’re really excited to open it up to the community,” Magliocca said. He noted community members will have a chance to rub shoulders with Columbus Brewing Co. staff during rides.

The event will also function as a fundraiser for Pelotonia. Columbus Brewing will donate a portion of proceeds from certain merchandise (including branded bike jerseys) to Pelotonia. One dollar from every taproom beer sale during the evening of the community rides will also be donated.

“Pelotonia is an important cause to CBC, and we want to focus our efforts to help fund cancer research,” Magliocca said. “Our goal is to make an impact on this incredible community right here in Columbus.”
