A US president-themed sandwich shop has opened in the Columbus area

As the birthplace of former United States President Rutherford B. Hayes, the Central Ohio city of Delaware enjoys a wide variety of different presidential themed events and locales.

This is likely the first time Hayes’ stamp has been put on a sandwich shop, however.

The Rutherford Cafe, a Rutherford B. Hayes inspired eatery, is now officially open for business.

Located at 9 E. William St. in downtown Delaware, the new sandwich shop held an official soft opening yesterday, and will remain open for service.

The Rutherford Cafe, which is operated by Mark Smiles, owner of Delaware-area cheese shop The Greater Gouda, will feature an array of hearty Midwestern sandwiches and more. Patrons can expect creations like The Smokey Sandusky, The Beefy Boy and The Rutherford, which includes pastrami, Swiss, coleslaw and special sauce served on rye bread. The eatery will also offer breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and more.
