After nearly 35 years, Jumbo’s Sub Shop has closed restaurant space

Jumbo’s Sub Shop had served the Whitehall community for 34 years, but late last month, the long-standing sandwich shop shuttered its storefront for good.

According to a statement posted to Jumbo’s Facebook page from owner Mary Kotevski Arcand, the popular Whitehall eatery closed after service on March 25.

Jumbo’s was located at 560 S. Yearling Rd.

“This is with a heavy heart given we’ve been a part of Whitehall for 34 years,” the statement reads. “Words are not enough to express my gratitude for all the support and love we’ve received over all these years. Whitehall has been the best city, I can’t say enough about everyone that has supported us here.”

Despite the restaurant closure, direhard customers will still have a chance to get their Jumbo’s fix, however, as the sub shop will be hitting the road as a food truck.

The new iteration of the eatery will focus on the Mansfield area, but Arcand said she’ll be back in Central Ohio from time to time to “visit all of [her] wonderful customers.”
