After operating in Columbus for over 100 years, Resch’s Bakery could be expanding; Get the details here
Resch’s Bakery is located on the East Side of Columbus, but you don’t have to be from the East Side to know just how iconic Resch’s Bakery is.
First opened in 1912 and now located at 4061 E. Livingston Ave., Resch’s has become something of a Columbus institution. And now, the bakery is exploring its options for a potential expansion.
According to Production Manager Gary Diewald, the longtime bakery is considering opening a new location in the Gahanna area. Nothing is definite at the moment, he said, and the expansion wouldn’t occur until next year at the earliest.

“We have a few specific locations in Gahanna we’re looking into. But right now we’re just considering if expansion is something we can do,” he said. “We still have a lot of questions to answer, like would we bake everything here or there.”
According to Diewald, if the move occurs, Resch’s would continue to operate its Livingston Avenue storefront, where the bakery has been since 1962.
And while the prospect of a second Resch’s likely has many Columbus foodies salivating, he noted that the bakery has considered expanding before, and ultimately decided against it.
“We’re doing well here [on Livingston Avenue], but we’re trying to see what’s best for us down the road,” Diewald said.
