Anticipated Mexican restaurant now open in Worthington

A new option for authentic Central Mexican cuisine is now open in Worthington.

That’s because Chapala Mexican Grill is now officially open for business.

Located at 530 N. High St. in Worthington, Chapala took over the former Brugger’s Bagels site, which shuttered in 2020.

The new Mexican eatery hosted a private soft opening last weekend, before holding its official grand opening on Feb. 21. It will be open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

According to co-owner Luiz Munoz, Chapala Mexican Grill will feature cuisine from Central Mexico. The new restaurant takes its name from Chapala, Mexico, an idyllic town bordering Lake Chapala, the country’s largest freshwater lake.

“We are very excited about opening, but at the same time we know that we have a big responsibility to serve great food and drinks and be part of the community respectfully, and not just be another Mexican Restaurant in town,” Muoz said.
