If, like the rest of Columbus, you’ve been waiting for Way Down Yonder Beignets & Coffee to open its doors for the last several months, then we have some good news for you.

The new eatery will be holding its official grand opening on Feb. 15, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Way Down Yonder Beignets & Coffee is located at 386 E. Main St., replacing the former Discovery District Tim Hortons.

The new spot, which began drumming up significant interest throughout the Columbus food scene when it was announced last year, is a sister concept to Way Down Yonder, a restaurant serving up New Orleans fare on the city’s South Side.

Way Down Yonder owner Yonder Miller is opening the new eatery alongside Rickelle Viney.

“Growing up in New Orleans, Yonder is familiar with the evolution of beignets: How they’re made now and how they used to be made,” Viney said. “She’s making true, original beignets. She really believes in her recipe and craft because she’s tailored it over all these years.”

She noted that Miller’s pastries are likely more authentic than many beignets being made in New Orleans today.

The new Main Street spot will offer beignets in a variety of flavors, including original, Oreo and more.
