Brand new East Side festival will feature the city’s best BBQ, live music

Jack McLaughlin

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And live music. And really good barbecue.

The inaugural Smoke & Fire Festival, held in Bexley, has announced it will take place on Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. It will take place alongside Bexley’s Jazz in the Park series.

The totally free event will be held at Bexley’s Schneider Park, which is located at 2160 Astor Ave.

Smoke & Fire Festival will feature not only local eateries, but also unaffiliated foodies and pit masters looking to prove their barbecue is some of the best in Columbus.

The festival’s main event will be a strictly-regulate, we’re talking a 1,200-word rule book, barbecue grilling competition, with the winner taking home the title of SXFF Barbecue Champ (in addition to a grand prize).

The first-ever Smoke & Fire Festival will also feature live music from Mason Bryant and the Bobby Floyd Trio, and drinks for sale from Seventh Son.
