City Council objects to renewal of liquor licenses for these 12 bars and businesses

After the City’s Public Safety Committee met to discuss the objection of liquor licenses for multiple Columbus bars and businesses earlier this month, the Columbus City Council has made its decision on the matter. 

At the initial hearing earlier this month, Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein alleged that some of the businesses have been the site of violence and police calls for crimes and drug overdoses. 

At last week’s meeting, Columbus City Council officially voted on the matter. The Council is objecting to the renewal of liquor licenses for the following businesses:

-Julep, 1014 N. High St.

-Mobile Mart, 2635 W. Broad St.

-Platform Lounge, 1058 Country Club Rd.

-Queen of Hearts, 5512 E. Livingston Ave.

-Spotlight Lounge, 1662 W. Mound St.

-Speedway, 3304 E. Broad St.

-Speedway, 6175 E. Livingston Ave.

-Sunoco, 2725 W. Broad St.

-UDF, 530 S. Hague Ave.

-UDF, 1680 N. High St.

This does not mean that the bars and businesses are guaranteed to lose their licenses, however. The Council’s decision will go before the Ohio Liquor Commission, which will make a final judgment in each case.
