Columbus-area restaurant and live music venue closing for good

Central Ohio is losing a spot for food and live music.

Yesterday evening, Soulshine Tavern & Kitchen posted a statement to its social media accounts that announced it plans to close before the end of the month. Its last day of operation will be May 21.

Soulshine Tavern & Kitchen is located at 266 E. Main St. in New Albany. The restaurant first opened in 2017.

“Rather than close our doors abruptly, we wanted to share this news to give us all a chance to say a proper goodbye,” Soulshine’s statement reads. “We hope that you will join us until May 21 to enjoy your favorite Soulshine food, drink and musicians–and, to take care of our fantastic staff as we help them plan their next career steps.”

According to Soulshine Tavern & Kitchen, the closure stems from several factors, including not being able to land on agreeable terms for the restaurant’s new lease (its current lease expires on May 31), in addition to COVID-reated obstacles.
