The Bottle Shop has a new owner.

Gregory Stokes, a veteran in the Columbus food and drink scene and the owner of Accent Wine, has officially purchased the popular campus-area storefront. The sale was completed Nov. 21.

Stokes said he doesn’t currently have plans for any significant changes to the wine and craft beer shop that has served Columbus since 2015 and was named one of the best wine stores in the country by “Wine Enthusiast” earlier this year,

“My intention is to keep it as it is for now, and to get to know the neighborhood and customers,” he said. “I didn’t see a point in throwing the baby out with the bathwater.”

The Bottle Shop will remain open throughout the transition, although it will close for the first week of January to give its staff holiday time off.

Now the owner of Accent Wine and The Bottle Shop, Stokes has formerly served as the General Manager of Veritas, and the Bar Manager of Dragonfly Neo-V and Dynamic Fare. He is currently a master sommelier candidate. There are fewer than 300 master sommeliers in the entire world.
