Historic Columbus-area pizzeria moving to new location after four decades in same space

Little Italy Pizza has been located at 619 Main St. in Groveport for the last 43 years, but soon it will be relocating.

According to Little Italy’s Operations Manager Avery Ward, the longstanding neighborhood spot will be moving several blocks west of its current location to the Wert’s Grove Building, located at 490 Main St.

The new pizzeria, slated to featured an abundance of natural light and modern design elements, will occupy the entire first floor of the building. It will also contain a full bar, and the pizzeria plans to introduce new menu items, like hand-dipped ice cream.

While an exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet, Little Italy is aiming to open in September.

According to Ward, the pizzeria plans to call the new spot home for the long haul.

“We are still negotiating the finer details of the terms of the lease. However, I can say we will be signing at a minimum a 10 year lease for the space,” He said. “Groveport is our home and I have zero intentions of ever leaving this new space. This is going to become our new home for what is hopefully the next 43 years.”

While plans for the original Little Italy location haven’t been finalized, Ward is hoping to bring another family-owned food concept into the space.
