Historic Columbus pizzeria reopens after temporary hiatus

Dante’s Pizza is back in business.

The long-standing spot for Columbus pizza, which closed on April 4 to remodel its dining room, officially reopened on May 27. Dante’s originally opened in 1973.

The iconic pizzeria is located at 3586 Indianola Ave.

According to co-owner Christina Taylor, the eatery hadn’t seen an interior remodel since 1966, evidenced by Dante’s former wood-paneled dining room walls.

Columbus pizza fans will be glad to note that—although Taylor initially believed that the eatery would have to re-open in phases after the remodeling, offering carryout only first—Dante’s is currently open both for dine-in and carryout customers.

“We really tried to update the space, but keep the warm cozy feeling that it always had. There’s some new things mixed in with the old that people will recognize,” Taylor said. “We are now handicapped accessible, which was also very important to us.”

Dante’s Pizza is open from 3:30-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 3:30-9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The eatery is closed on Sunday.
