Learn whether four Columbus bartenders ranked in the top 100 by the US Bartenders’ Guild

A group of Columbus mixologists were recently recognized as some of the best in the business.

According to the United States Bartenders’ Guild, James DeFrance from The Refectory, Christopher Marek from Light of the Seven Matchsticks, Rebecca Monday of 614Tiki, and David Yee of Watershed Kitchen & Bar have all been named Top 100 US World Class bartenders.

Each year, the guild fields applications for the top 100 and creates a unique competition to uncover the US World Class Bartender of the Year. Contestants will be asked to create a cocktail to pair with either Mediterranean of Latin cuisine, with the goal of elevating the food and creating a unique experience.

To be considered for the distinction, the United States Bartenders’ Guild invited top bartenders across the nation to create an innovative cocktail that represented “themselves, their bar, and their community.”

There are no numerical rankings within the top 100 list, but each bartender is classified into a geographical subgroup (including West, Midwest, South, Southwest and Northwest). All Columbus bartenders are in the Midwest division.

Note: this story originally included only two Columbus bartenders, it has been updated to include all four.
