A Polaris-area bakery has closed its doors permanently.

Corner Bakery announced in an emailed statement on Jan. 5 that it would be closing its Polaris store, which is also its only location in the state of Ohio. The national brand does have more than 150 other locations across the country in 20 different states.

Corner Bakery was located at 1478 Gemini Pl., just north of Polaris Fashion Place.

The email did not detail why the eatery closed, and Corner Bakery has not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.

Corner Bakery first opened its Polaris location on Oct. 30, 2017. The restaurant featured a variety of breakfast items, like made-to-order scramblers, and lunch fare, including soups and salads.

According to QSR Magazine, the chain saw performance drop following the outbreak of COVID-19, due to office closures and greater numbers of employees working from home.
