New beach-inspired restaurant and bar coming to Near East Side

While the ocean can sometimes feel like a world away from Central Ohio, one new food and drink concept plans to bring it to the city’s King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood.

Waves Bar & Kitchen, located at 828 E. Long St., is currently refurbishing the 1,746 square foot storefront it plans to call home. The new concept is eyeing a grand opening held over Memorial Day Weekend.

According to co-owners Tanitia Brown, Tim Brown and David burke, Waves is aiming to capture “that blissful feeling of being at the beach,” they said in a joint email to 614Now. “We want people to come in, eat some great food, have a nice cocktail, and enjoy the atmosphere. We want you to feel like your life is at ease with our ocean breeze.”

The new spot also boasts a massive patio for outdoor dining and drinking.

According to Waves owners, the trio grew wanting to create a spot that served as a gathering place for friends, family and community members, and the new concept will be just that. They also hope to create a community hub inside the historic King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood with the new concept.

“The King-Lincoln neighborhood is filled with rich history. There are many creative people that live and work in the area. What better place to be,” Waves owners said.
