New jazz-inspired cocktail lounge from owners of Chapman’s Eat Market opening this month

The day we’ll be able to grab a drink and catch some live jazz at Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge is almost here.

The new concept, which is headed by Bronwyn Haines–although husband BJ Lieberman of Chapman’s Eat Market plans to be “deeply involved in the creative process” as well–will officially open on April 19.

Ginger Rabbit is located at 17 Buttles Ave. in the Short North.

According to Lieberman in an interview from earlier this year, Ginger Rabbit is a cocktail lounge that will feature snacks in addition to “the best jazz musicians that Columbus has to offer.”

The cocktails, Lieberman said, will be roaring 20s-inspired, but will opt for clear, concise ingredients lists, with a healthy amount of spirits like gin and sherry.

Located on the basement level of its Buttles Avenue space, Ginger Rabbit hopes to offer visitors a transformative experience.

“It is in a basement, down a flight of stairs, so we want it to feel like you are entering a different venue from a different time,” Lieberman said. “The decor is going to feature dark velvet and soft textures to not take away any focus from the beverage and music offerings.  Our goal is for the live music to be more of a background vibe earlier in the evenings and more of a focal point as the night goes on.”
