New Orleans-style daiquiri and milkshake bar coming to Near East Side
Another unique new concept has just signed on at the East Market, the massive new marketplace with more than a dozen food and drink vendors coming to the Near East Side. The Market is part of the Trolley District development.
Say hello to Nola DAQ Shack.
The new concept comes from Janvier Ward–owner of Creole 2 Geaux, which is setting up its first brick and mortar space inside the East Market–and her sister, Maxine Ohakim. Their business ventures together will operate under the larger brand 2 Geaux Sisters.

“When we think of New Orleans, we of course think of the night life and daiquiris, but also the sno-balls and milkshakes on a hot summer day,” Ward said “Nobody’s doing that in Ohio, and we want to bring those flavors here.”
According to Ohakim, sno-balls, which have a long history in New Orleans (where the sisters have extended family and regularly visit) resemble sno-cones, but pack in more flavor with a softer texture.
“A lot of times, sno-cones just taste like snow,” she said with a laugh. “Sno-balls really open up your palate so you get to taste everything.”
Nola DAQ Shack will only serve virgin treats, but Ward said customers will be able to take them to one of the East Market’s two bar concepts for a splash of alcohol. The sisters will even provide their recommended pairings.
The dessert spot’s milkshakes will also feature classic New Orleans flavors, including bananas Foster and praline.
The new concept will be located next to Ward’s other concept in the East Market, Creole 2 Geaux.
