New Soul Food restaurant opens in former home of Linden Cafe

While the Linden Cafe closed its long-standing Cleveland Avenue storefront years ago, the spot remains prominent in the memories of many Columbus foodies–whether they were residents of Linden or not.

Big Mal’s Linden Cafe, a brand-new soul food restaurant, has opened in the former home of Linden Cafe, located at 1393 Cleveland Ave. The location also served as the home of J Hot Fish for several years after the closure of Linden Cafe

According to Angela Mallory, who operates the new eatery alongside her husband Larry Mallory, the eatery’s name was inspired by the Linden Cafe, but Big Mal’s is a unique concept.
