Owners of Chapman’s Eat Market bringing new cocktail and live jazz lounge to Short North

Chapman’s Eat Market was named one of the 50 best restaurants in the country by The New York Times late last year, and if–like the rest of us–you enjoy the German Village restaurant, just wait until this spring.

Bronwyn Haines–who alongside husband BJ Lieberman operates Chapman’s Eat Market–is bringing a brand-new cocktail bar and live jazz lounge, Ginger Rabbit,  to Columbus this spring. Lieberman is not an owner of the bar, but stated he will be “deeply involved in the creative process.”

The new concept will be located at 17 Buttles Ave. in the Short North. It will likely open in April, although an exact date has not been announced.

According to Lieberman, Ginger Rabbit will feature craft cocktails, snacks and live jazz music. “We’re aiming to create a sexy date spot where people can share intimate conversation, great cocktails and some of the best jazz musicians that Columbus has to offer,” he said.

While the new concept is still developing its menu–which will be overseen by Seth Laufman– guests can expect a blend of classic cocktails and unique creations, all with an upscale feel.

“We are definitely shooting for Ginger Rabbit to be a sophisticated experience, so there will likely be a roaring 20’s undertone to our cocktail list, lots of gin, sherry and simple but beautiful cocktails,” Lieberman said.
