Owners of Hausfraus Haven opening new bar in former German Village laundromat

Jack McLaughlin

German Village is getting a chic new spot to grab a drink. And it’s opening in a former laundromat.

Julie D’Elia and Faye Muncie, co-owners of the long-standing neighborhood wine shop Hausfraus Haven, are preparing to open a new wine bar in the 1,500 square foot building adjacent to the store.

Hausfrau Haven is located at 769 S. 3rd St. The new bar, which will be called The Laundry, will be located next door, at 369 S. 3rd St.

The building, which is owned by D’Elia and Muncie, formerly operated as a laundromat, which the new concept’s name alludes to.

Before COVID-19, the German Village wine shop operated its own in-house wine bar, which The Laundry will take the place of, only on a larger and more refined scale. The space will serve multiple wines and a handful of craft beers each month, and bottles from Hausfraus Haven can be opened for a corkage fee.
