Popular donut shop opening new, entirely gluten-free location

The Dipped Donut in Delaware has served as a hotspot for gluten-free baked goods for years, and now the popular Delaware County donut shop is launching an entire new production facility and storefront for gluten-intolerant diners.

Gluten-Free from The Dipped will be located 256 S. Sandusky St. in Downtown Delaware. It will take the place of The Dipped Donut owners’ Jeni and Carl Reida’s former tanning and laundry business, Super Wash & Tan.

The 2,500 square foot space, which will be entirely dedicated to the production of gluten-free baked goods and other gluten-free food, is located in a separate unit in the same building that houses The Dipped Donut.

The Reidas, who have a daughter and grandchild with celiac disease, would regularly dedicate one day each week at The Dipped Donut to gluten-free production, and their gluten-free treats have amassed a large following throughout Central Ohio.

“It’s just so nice to have our facility now,” Jeni Reida said, noting that the business recently received its official gluten-free approval from the National Celiac Association. “It’s such a blessing for these people. They don’t have the opportunity to walk into the store and pick up a loaf of thick-cut bread or a pepperoni roll or a pumpkin pie. But now they can.”

Gluten-Free from the Dipped, which will be selling baked goods at the 35th annual Celiac Conference at Nationwide Children’s Hospital on Nov. 5, is now also certified to offer general gluten-free food service as well.

Reida said the new facility and storefront will open sometime in October, after construction is complete.
