Popular new burger concept opening campus location

When Savvy Sliders opened at 1450 W. Broad St. last year, the polished new smash burger concept was testing the Columbus market with its first location outside the state of Michigan.

And it appears the city passed the test, as the fast-growing burger spot plans to open a second Columbus location in the heart of the OSU campus this fall.

The new store will be located at 2106 N. High St., the former site of a White Castle that closed in 2020.

While many Savvy Sliders locations are co-branded with Happy’s Pizza—as is the original Columbus Savvy on W. Broad Street—the campus location will be solely branded as a Savvy Sliders.

While a grand opening date hasn’t been announce yet, according to co-franchisee Ali Bazzi, the eatery is on track to open in September or October.

“The Broad Street store was a way for us to get our foot in the door in Ohio,” Bazzi said. “So far, it’s had great reviews, so we’re looking to add between three to five stores in Columbus over the next few years.”

Savvy Sliders operates nearly 30 stores, all of which are located in Michigan except for its W. Broad Street eatery. The concept has four Florida locations set to open soon as well.
