This beloved Columbus bar and music venue is permanently closing

After 13 years, The Shrunken Head is ready to call it quits.

In a statement posted to the Facebook page of the long-standing Columbus bar and music venue yesterday evening, owners Andreas Kleinert and Kristy Venrick announced that it plans to shutter before the end of the month.

The Shrunken Head is located at 251 W. 5th Ave.

“It all started when we were approached several months ago. After many discussions and negotiations, we just confirmed the last items today.  Quicker than we wanted in many ways, so we hope you understand,” the statement reads. “It is very bittersweet for Andreas and I because this bar includes numerous special times with amazing people, events, our dedicated staff and our regulars. All that are like family and have made this not just a bar, but a home.  We learned a lot and often stumbled along the way.  But, we always had great support from people like you.”

The Shrunken Head, which first opened in March of 2009, will be open through June 25.
