Thrive Cos. opening new cafe by day, bar by night concept in multiple locations

Whoever said you can’t enjoy a cocktail or craft beer in the same space you grab your morning coffee has clearly never heard of Bada.

Short for Bada Bean Bada Booze, this soon-to-open concept from Columbus development group Thrive Cos. will combine the best parts of your favorite coffee shop with a sleek destination bar.

“We really wanted to bring a cool concept for our residents, although we are open to the public too, that could be both a pit stop before going into work, and a comfortable neighborhood bar,” said Morgan Galvin, Thrive’s Director of Experience–Food & Beverage.

Each location will open within a Thrive development, but all will be open to the public as well. The first Bada is slated to open this Fall within Thrive’s Jeffrey Park Apartments, located at 231 E. First Ave.

Three other Bada locations are slated to open soon as well, with one located in the unique new Quarry Trails development, which abuts the newly-opened Metro Park of the same name. The others will be located in the Founders apartment building and Grandview Crossing Apartments.

The E. First Avenue location, which will be roughly 2,500 square feet, will feature coffee from Florin Coffee Roasters in addition to a wide variety of craft cocktails and other drinks.

For those who want to get a sneak peek of Bada, which is hiring, the concept will have a pop-up booth serving iced coffee at the 4th Street Market in Italian Village.

“We’ve really wanted to focus heavily on experience and hospitality,” Galvin said. “Bada allows us to have those touch points and offer more amenities to our residents and Columbus.”
