Two out of five vodkas named on new Newsweek list of must-try spirits are from Columbus

Jack McLaughlin

Newsweek just released a list of its best new American vodkas, and two out of the five named are from Columbus.

The list, titled “These American-Made Vodkas are Incredible,” was published by Newsweek on April 2. It cites Watershed Distillery’s vodka in addition to OYO American Character Vodka, which is made by Middle West Spirits.

“Watershed Distillery Vodka is incredibly smooth, with a sweetness that sneaks in. Made with corn and apples, this spirit offers a silky mouthfeel and a slightly floral aroma. We love the flavor profile of this vodka,” author Josh Smith wrote.

He add equal praise for Middle West’s vodka as well.

“OYO American Character Vodka is made with red winter wheat. It’s unfiltered, allowing more flavor to carry through,” Smith said. “OYO American Character from Middle West Spirits is the perfect option to try if you are usually a whiskey drinker.”
