Metro Parks new Paddlefest offering use of more than 60 free boats this weekend

No boat? No problem.

This weekend, Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks are making water sports a whole lot more accessible to residents when a fun, and free, event returns.

Now in its second year, Paddlefest will take place at the Darby Bend Lakes portion of Prairie Oaks Metro Park, which is located at 2755 Amity Rd. in Hilliard.

The event will provide free access to more than 60 different vessels between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to try out everything from a buttoned-up canoe to a dual kayak or stand up paddle board.

According to Jill Snyder, Visitor Engagement Manager at Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, Paddlefest will also provide free life jackets for adults and children, in addition to safe-use demonstrations for new boaters.
