Step into a hidden world of burgers, burlesque and world-class nightlife at Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce

Jack McLaughlin

Looks can be deceiving …

From the outside, the brick warehouse at 3959 Brighton Rose Sq. in the new district at Easton Town Center looks like it could be home to any number of eateries usually found in Columbus, but once you step inside Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce, it becomes apparent you’re “not in Kansas anymore.”

Inside the Forty Deuce Cafe, it’s all about New York, baby!  Pictures of Times Square adorn the walls and vintage NY postcards hang from the bar.  Kane grew up in the Big Apple, so all the burgers, sandwiches and crazy shakes are named after places that were part of Kane’s world growing up, from The Carnegie Deli (a sandwich and a burger!) to The Rockefeller Center (the ultimate VIP burger with wagyu beef and truffles), from The Fuhgeddaboudit! (chicken and waffles) to The Bridge and Tunnel (an enormous rainbow sprinkled shake topped with confetti cake and a sparkler!)  The dramatic gourmet burgers and towering skyscraper milkshakes were all created by Kane and Iron Chef winner Neal Fraser, who partnered together to make sure that at Forty Deuce, “a burger ain’t just a burger” and a milkshake is guaranteed to make kids squeal with delight (Mom and Dad often make the shakes boozy!).

But perhaps the biggest surprise isn’t just how incredibly good the food is, but what awaits through the Cafe’s swinging kitchen doors and inside the walk-in refrigerator … a hidden speakeasy that’s home to burlesque stars from New York, Hollywood, Miami and Las Vegas, all under contract to Kane to perform the show voted the #1 Burlesque show in the world!  Backed by a swingin’ three-piece band that spins out on a revolving turntable, these headliners wow the sold-out crowds every Friday and Saturday night.

Kane’s world-famous burlesque shows have been featured on “The Today Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and even in its own Bravo Reality series “Forty Deuce” … and is considered “the gold standard,” according to The New York Times.  What all this means is that inside the Forty Deuce speakeasy, guests are treated to an experience usually found only in Hollywood and Las Vegas!

The now legendary concept originated in Los Angeles, then opened in Sin City at Mandalay Bay, followed by Revel Casino in Atlantic City and other locations across the country.  In January 2020 Kane opened its midwest flagship in Columbus, Ohio at Easton Town Center.

The Forty Deuce Supper Club is a sit-down party from 7 p.m.-9 p.m., with Kane himself MCing when he’s in town.  And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, Forty Deuce takes another fantastical turn at 9:30 p.m. when the Burlesque Nightclub opens, a DJ-fueled dance party and burlesque show that rages until 2:30 a.m.
