Life-sized dinosaurs arrive at the Columbus Library

Sav McKee

Since we’ve all seen Jurassic Park, we know what happens when real dinosaurs are brought into the mix. Because we don’t want to end up as raptor food, we’re opting for the next-best thing:

Giant dinosaur replicas.

For the second year in a row, the Main Branch of the Columbus Public Library will be home to a series of large-scale dinosaur models.

This means visitors will be able to come face-to-face with a life-sized Stegosaurus, Citipati, three flying Tupuxuaras and a Carnotaurus (a T. Rex-lookalike that hunted large prey and likely weighed in the neighborhood of 8,000-10,000 pounds) all for free.

The models were provided by BPI, Inc.

Additionally, dinosaurs are at the Library now through Oct. 30. The replicas will be accompanied by staff-led programs, customer-led activities, and, of course, plenty of dinosaur books and more.
