After fire delays opening, new bookstore and live jazz venue opening in Grandview this spring

Grandview is getting some serenity, not now, but soon.

This spring, a new hybrid bookstore, cafe and music venue called Serenity Book Shop is coming to 1806 W. 5th Ave.

According to owner Shanna Tiggs, Serenity was originally slated to open last June, but a fire pushed the opening back the better part of a year. Tiggs said the new bookstore is preparing to open in April, although an exact date has not been announced.

Tiggs, an author herself, told 614Now opening a bookstore has always been her dream. and she hopes  to make Serenity stand out from other similar concepts.

“We are not your average bookstore,” she said.

In addition to books, the Grandview shop will offer coffee and light food from an in-house cafe concept, a venue for jazz and other live music, space for book signings and more. Metaphysical supplies like crystals will also be available.
