On Sunday, July 9th, around 5,000 ducks will race down the lazy river at Zoombezi Bay. Well, rubber ducks, that is.

The Zoom Duck Derby encourages families around the USA, not just in Columbus, to adopt one duck for $5 or a flock of 27 ducks for $100. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winning ducks will win cash prizes of $1,500, and you don’t even have to be present to win.

If you want to make this a fun, family outing, the Zoombezi Bay parking lot opens at 7:30am, with fun games and activities between 7:45am – 9am, and registration begins at 7:45am. The actual derby starts at 8:30am. Some water slides and their signature wave pool will open at 9:15am, so you can attend the ducky derby and enjoy the waterpark before it even opens to the rest of the public.

Proceeds will benefit programs and services at Alpha Group, which serves 700+ people with disabilities in 13 Ohio counties. To make a team, adopt some ducks, purchase tickets, and find more information, check out their website.
