Popular fried chicken chain opens new Columbus location
Chick-fil-A now has a fried chicken competitor at Polaris Mall – one that’s open on Sundays, too.
Popeyes, founded in 1972 and known for their Louisiana-style fried chicken, opened in the Polaris Food Hall on Wednesday, August 16th. Their menu features Cajun and Creole flavored spicy chicken sandwiches, tenders, fried shrimp, and other regional items.

It seems as if Columbus loves a taste of New Orleans – in the past couple of years, Popeyes has opened nearly twenty different locations in Central Ohio, including newer locations in Dublin, Lewis Center, and New Albany.
Although this fast-food chain has been around for fifty years, it wasn’t until 2019 when they started gaining more momentum, with a chicken sandwich release that was so popular that Popeyes sold out of them and couldn’t keep them in stock for almost two months.
Polaris’ Food Hall has expanded this year to include Bonjour Cafe, Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog, I Scream Gelato, and now, Popeyes. The Food Hall is open 11am-8pm, Monday through Saturday, and 11am-6pm on Sundays.
