A long-standing Columbus pizza crawl is returning this spring, and it’s only $1 per slice

While the Columbus-Style Pizza Trail is a great way to get acquainted with the many great local eateries we have here in central Ohio, it’s not the only one of its kind.

In fact, the 5xNW Pizza Crawl, which is hosted annually by the Fifth by Northwest Area Commission, is returning once again to the Fifth by Northwest neighborhood this year.

“The event started I believe back in 2010 to get folks out and about in the neighborhood (and recognize that there are a ton of long-running pizza places in our neighborhood specifically),” said lead volunteer Andrew Gifford, who is spearheading the pizza crawl with Fifth by Northwest Area Commissioner Alex Volakis.

This year, the event will take place on May 11, from 6-8 p.m. Pizza crawlers will meet at Barrel & Taps, which is located at 1380 W. 3rd Ave., to check in and receive instructions and a walking map. After taking on the crawl, you can return to Barrel & Taps to vote for your favorite Fifth by Northwest pizzeria. The top eatery will receive a customized plaque.

This year, Barrel & Taps, Halwani’s Pizza & Stromboli and Dewey’s Pizza are currently confirmed as participating locations. Grandad’s Pizza and Rotolo’s Pizza are also expected to join, Gifford said.

The 5xNW Pizza Crawl won’t break the bank either, as you’ll only need to pay $1 per slice at the event’s participating pizzerias.

“We let the pizza places know they can determine the size of pizza and the slice, but it’s only $1 a slice,” Gifford said.
