To the chagrin of Columbus pizza-lovers, Pizzaroni’s Pizza has remained closed since the spring of 2022. But now, according to owner Tony Sabatino, the eatery has a specific reopening date in mind.

Sabatino told 614Now that PIzzaroni’s is aiming to reopen in a new location on Jan. 3.

The pizzeria owner said that the Ohio Department of Health Inspector is on vacation through Jan. 1, and is hoping to have the shop inspected and approved before Jan. 3.

“Hopefully that won’t hold us up,” Sabatino said. “We are ready to go.”

Pizzaroni’s, which won the Columbus Pizza Connoisseurs Pizza Shop of the Year Award in 2020, announced a temporary closure of its Etna storefront in the spring of 2022, as the eatery was hoping to purchase its own building. When the pizzeria does reopen, it will be located at 9450 Mink St. in Reynoldsburg, which served as the eatery’s original home.
