After opening last year, restaurant chain closes its sole Columbus location

Following a grand opening in May of 2022, the sole Ohio location of the New York-based chain Hummus & Pita Co. has already closed its doors, at least for the time being.

The restaurant was located at 1777 Hilliard Rome Rd.

A sign taped to the front door of the eatery informs patrons of the closure.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of The Hummus & Pita Co.,” the sign reads. “We want to express our sincere gratitude for your patronage and support over the last year.”

The sign attributed the closure to “unforeseen circumstances,” but Hummus & Pita Co. could not be reached for more information before this story was published.

Additionally, the former Hummus & Pita Co. space appears to have have been listed late last week on the real estate website Crexi.com with the following description:

“Brand new restaurant for sale in high traffic Hilliard market. All FF&E included with the sale. This is an active business and we are selling the assets as well as the franchise rights (if wanted). You can continue with the current brand or use another.”

The listing is now classified as “off market” on Crexi.com, although it’s unclear if the property was sold. If it was sold, it’s not known whether or not it will continue to operate as a Hummus & Pita Co. location or if it will become a different concept.
