Anticipated all Kosher Middle-Eastern grill comes to Olde Towne East

Things just got a little more vibrant in Olde Towne East. Saba Columbus originally planned to open in February, and the anticipation is finally over.

As of Monday, June 19th, Saba’s all Kosher, fast-casual Middle-Eastern cuisine is available in the Trolley District’s East Market at 212 Kelton Ave. You can now snag a variety of fresh dips, falafel dishes, shawarma, pargiyot (freshly skewered meats), and more in their booth located right next to Creole 2 Geux.

Arie and Shana Hazen, the two behind the concept of Saba Columbus, are already well-known for the Middle-Eastern cuisine they serve at their catering company, Arie Catering. They’ve been perfecting their craft for over 30 years. Now, their specialized fare can be found at Saba. Arie was born in Morocco, has been trained as a chef at the famous Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and his love and passion for cooking is evident in just one bite of their homemade, crispy falafel.

As for the Middle-Eastern restaurant world, what sets Saba apart from the rest is their dedication to Kosher products. The eatery is certified Kosher under Buckeye Kosher Supervision, and Shana Hazen considers this a “big deal” for the Jewish community in Columbus. They also don’t serve meat on Mondays and Fridays, which is a plus for Columbus’ growing vegan/vegetarian community.

“Saba is more than just a restaurant,” Saba explains on their website. “It is an authentic taste of the Middle East. East Market creates a unique and warm atmosphere for guests to enjoy our authentic delicious food. Come visit us and taste the flavors of the Middle East. Your taste buds will thank you!”

For Saba’s hours and menu, take a look at their website.
