Central Ohio restaurant chef dies; Restaurant creates fundraiser to help family

One of the head chefs behind a long-standing Powell restaurant has died, but the restaurant is helping out its own by launching a fundraiser to benefit his family.

Juan Gomez Guzman, a 23 year old co-head chef at Azteca Mexican Grill, which is located at 3962 Powell Rd. in Powell, recently died in a car accident, according to the restaurant.

The details of the accident are not currently known.

All day today, Azteca Mexican Grill will hold a unique fundraiser to benefit the loved ones of its employee, as the restaurant plans to donate 20 percent of all sales to the family of Guzman.

The money raised will be used to send his remains to family members in Mexico, according to Azteca Mexican Grill. The Powell eatery will be opened today from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
