Central Ohio pizzeria closing Powell location to focus on carryout stores

Shorty’s Pizza & Growl has been expanding across Central Ohio over the last year, but the Pizzeria plans to close its Powell location in order to focus on carryout business at its other eateries.

According to Shorty’s co-owner John Cordas, the pizzeria plans to shutter its Powell location this weekend to focus on its other locations, with a renewed emphasis on carryout operations.

Shorty’s Powell restaurant, which is located at 9721 Sawmill Rd., will hold a send-off party on Dec. 2, which will be its final day of operation.

According to Cordas, the eatery’s Powell location has struggled to find employee help throughout its tenure. He noted the recent closure of Yabo’s Tacos in Powell, and the upcoming closure of Gallo’s in Powell (Gallo’s plans to open a new Dublin pizza spot to replace this location, however) as well.

“We’ve been been able to find high school students, but it’s always been a struggle finding adult employees there,” Cordas said. “It’s been a little crazy, for us and other business owners.”

Replacing Shorty’s in Powell is 1801 Tavern, although it’s currently unclear when the new concept plans to open.
