Columbus has lost a colorful member of its craft brewing community.

Tim McFeely, co-owner of Holy Trinity Brewing, has died. He was 54.

The brewery abruptly closed, on a temporary basis, on Sept. 26, while McFeely’s death took place on Oct. 19. His passing was announced by the brewery on Oct. 25.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our master brewer Tim,” Holy Trinity’s statement reads. “We all love you and will miss the beer, the laughs, and most of all we will miss you. Fly high and raise a toast with the angels our dear friend. Please keep Tim’s loved ones in your thoughts during this very difficult time.”

The future status of Holy Trinity Brewibg is still unclear. The brewery, which is located at 155 N. Fifth St., opened in late 2021. As its name implies, the concept embraced McFeely’s faith, but approached lightheartedly, with beer names including Home Run Jesus, Coco-Berry Jesus and more.

A celebration of McFeely’s life will take place on Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. at DW Eatery in Grandview, which is located at 1051 W. 5th Ave.
