Columbus food truck goes viral after sharing story on TikTok

If you haven’t heard of Taqueria el Torito, chances are you aren’t on TikTok very much.

On June 8, Yanira Carrillo posted a video from her TikTok account about her father Jose’s food truck, Taqueria el Torito, which opened for business last spring and is typically located at 1711 Lockborne Rd.

“My dad has worked really hard and has put his soul into this truck,” Carrillo said in the video, which touches on the truck’s menu, drink offerings and more. “So please y’all, come out and support my dad’s hard work. He is 58…it is doing OK, but we just want to get the word out.”

You can watch the video here.

Since the video was posted on June 8, it has already been viewed more than 225,000 times, with nearly 33,000 likes and over 2,000 comments. Others in Columbus have even posted their own videos reviewing the truck after the video was posted.

Taqueria el Torito was also flooded by direct messages of support, several of which were posted to its Facebook page.

“I definitely didn’t expect the video to get so much attention. The truck had received so much support from people all around Columbus and the surrounding areas. Some have said they traveled from 45 minutes away. It was really amazing seeing everyone come out,” Carrillo told 614Now. “It reminded me of how much we can do for each other when the community unites.”

According to Carrillo, the video even led to the truck booking an event at the Columbus Commons later this summer.
