Columbus restaurant veterans launch New Jersey, New Haven-inspired pizza concept in Upper Arlington

While we all love a good Columbus-style pizza, every now and again we get the urge to branch out into something different. And that’s what Upper Arlington’s new Bazemore Pizza represents.

The new pizza concept, launched by Columbus restaurant veterans Todd Crow and Billy Bazemore, held its soft opening recently inside of The Pointe Tavern. The Pointe is located at 1991 Riverside Dr. in Upper Arlington.

For now, the eatery’s menu is deliberately concise, which will allow the duo to gain their footing more smoothly. And even if the menu expands at a later date (there are plans to add sandwiches soon), pizza will continue to be the star of the show at Bazemore.

And what sort of pizza do they serve? Bazemore’s pies, cut into triangles instead of the tavern-style squares Columbus diners so often see. And according to Crow, the new spot’s pizza takes more inspiration from East Coast varieties than those rooted in the Midwest.

“We make a hybrid style of pie. Imagine if you take New Jersey tomato pie + New Haven + Connecticut + New York and add our spin on it with a nice warm and cold fermentation process,” he said.

Bazemore is currently in its soft opening phase, but that hasn’t stopped the new spot from gaining some early fans.

“They have something special,” said customer and loca pizza reviewer Douglas Sherwood.
