While the Arena District lost a BD’s Mongolian Grill last year, the University District is set to see the opening of a similar concept next week.

Genghis Grill, a fast-casual spot that lets customers build their own Asian-inspired bowls with more than 80 ingredients, will open its only Ohio location on June 23, according to a press release.

The eatery will be located at 1865 N. Pearl St. It will be a part of the new University Square development, situated at the intersection of 15th Ave. and N. High St.

Genghis Grill is owned by Mongolian Concepts (which was recently acquired by Craveworthy Brands), a family of brands restaurants that also includes BD’s Mongolian Grill.

Unlike its sitdown counterpart, Genghis Grill operates as a fast casual eatery that will utilize ordering kiosks and more to make sure customers are able to “receive their food and drinks and enjoy their meal within just 15 minutes.”

“Columbus residents will be thrilled to discover the unbeatable value we’re bringing to the city. When you consider the quality of our menu and the price points we showcase, they’ll be blown away,” said Gregg Majewski, Chief Executive Officer of Genghis Grill. “This new location marks the first of its kind for our brand. It elevates convenience, providing increased speed and efficiencies in ordering and meal prep. We see the restaurant becoming the go-to destination for fresh meals that are convenient and affordable for Ohio State students and faculty, especially.”
