Find out which local restaurant Joe Burrow patronized when he was in Columbus this weekend

One of the most popular athletes in the state of Ohio—and the entire NFL, for that matter—was among several big names in the Arch City over the weekend, and he stopped by to grab a bite in his former stomping grounds while he was here.

Burrow, an Athens, Ohio native and former OSU quarterback (although he’s better known collegiately yet for his time at LSU, which he transferred to) is known for his laidback demeanor and approachability. So what does this translate to in the food world?

Apparently, you don’t lead your team to consecutive AFC Champiosnhip appearances without leaning into relatively healthy dining options when you’re out, as Burrow stopped by Rio Fresh Cafe.

Rio Fresh, which is located at 50 N. High St., is known for its Açaí Bowls, smoothies, plus a variety of lunch and dinner entrees. According to owner Aida Wilson, Burrow opted for their Grilled Chicken Bowl.

“Joe Burrow was looking for the healthiest food here in Columbus and he found us at Rio Fresh Cafe! He is a professional athlete who takes care of his body and eats healthy and made a fantastic choice with our famous rio grilled chicken bowl, Wilson told 614Now. “He was very friendly and nice to the staff and customers. It was an honor to have him @Riofreshcafe.”
