Jack McLaughlin

St. Patrick’s Day will be here in only a matter of days, so it’s time to go green (literally).

We’ve compiled a list of local eateries offering everything from green sweets and eats, to the age-old tradition of green beer. This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’ll give you a solid base of green food drink before the big day.

Tremont Goodie Shop

This long-standing northwest side sweet shop is not turning out plenty of colored cookies for the holiday, but it’s also serving dyed-green glazed donut rings and glazed donut twists. They’re only available Friday, but you can call today to reserve some.

Nocterra Brewing Co.

This popular Powell taproom will be serving up not one, but two different green beers, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. You’ll be able to grab green Trail Break Lager and green Hazy Pale Ale, known as Irish Cannon.

Fox’s Bagel & Deli

Formerly both Block’s Bagels, Fox’s Bagel & Deli will be offering green bagels at both its East Broad Street and North Market Downtown locations. They will be available Thursday through Saturday, from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., as long as supplies last.

Hilgarten

This unique bier garten-inspired space is in Hilliard offers a refreshing new take on the typical bar. Offering German-inspired food and a communal courtyard, Hilgarten will also serve green beer all day Friday..

The speciality nano arm of BrewDog, Nanodog, is releasing Nilbog (which is goblin spelled backwards, for all the “Troll 2” fans out there), a neon green smoothie sour, at all locations on Friday.

Al’s Delicious Popcorn

While this ever-popular gourmet popcorn spot is offering one of its seasonal green flavors in Cincinnati only, Al’s hometown stores still have plenty of seasonal varieties to pick from, including Green/White Vanilla Butternut, Mint Chocolate Chip, Pistachio and Chocolate Gold.
