Here’s the restaurant set to replace Barrel & Boar’s Uptown Westerville location in September

Uptown Westerville is trading brisket and BBQ for burritos and birria.

Barrel & Boar, which was located at 8 N. State St., in Westerville closed its doors this month, and a new restaurant concept is already slated to open by the first week of September.

Danny Hernandez, the manager of Blue Santa Mexican Restaurant in Polaris, said that the owners saw that Barrel & Boar was selling their Uptown Westerville building, and they decided it was the perfect opportunity to expand their own restaurant concept. “We found this location, and no one has a Mexican restaurant in this part of Uptown Westerville,” said Hernandez.

Blue Santa is already renovating the space; floors are being touched up, the walls have been painted light blue, and the Hernandez family is hard at work making it their own.

They’ll be serving authentic Mexican food, like their popular Quesabirria, Texa Rice, Street Elote, Enchiladas, Fajitas, plus much more, including table-side chips & salsa and house-made margaritas, cervezas, and Mexican tequilas. The space includes an outdoor patio, too.

“We’re excited to be in Westerville,” Hernandez enthusiastically said. “Our plan is to open September 1st, or in that first week of September.”

The Blue Santa will be located at the original Barrel & Boar location at 8 N. State St. Their hours will be 11am-10pm on weekdays, 11am-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11am-9pm on Sundays. If you can’t wait until then, you can check out the Blue Santa’s Polaris location at 1025 Polaris Parkway.
