In just a few months time, a brand-new slice of Southern eating will be available in Columbus.

According to a press release, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based fried chicken chain Bojangles is slated to open its first Columbus location in April, although an exact date was not announced.

The eatery will be located at 831 Hilliard Rome Rd.

Construction is set to begin soon on the city’s first-ever Bojangles, and an official groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Jan. 5 at 2:30 p.m.

The new restaurant will be the first of 15 Columbus-area Bojangles locations to open over the next several years. Its growth in the Columbus market is part of a larger expansion for the brand, which plans to open 45 new restaurants across six states in that time.

Columbus native and veteran Bojangles franchisee Jeff Rigsby will own the new locations.
