You don’t really need an excuse to eat burgers and fries and drink beer all week, but just in case you feel like you do, here it is: it’s (614) Magazine’s Burger & Beer week, now until October 7th. Enjoy some of the best burgers in the city for only $6-$8!
This year’s Burger & Beer Week’s beneficiary is Speak! for the Unspoken, an organization that’s very near and dear to me. Speak! rescues dogs with special needs, mostly devoted to hearing and vision impaired furry friends. In 2020, two weeks before the pandemic hit, my partner and I rescued a blind and deaf dachshund mix from Speak!, and he’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to us. His spunky personality single-handedly got us through the pandemic. Then, in November of last year, someone reached out to us about adopting another fully blind and deaf dachshund, and now we have two very special boys who surprise us every single day. They’ve mapped all of German Village out – they know which coffee shops give them treats and try to drag us there every morning. My dogs wouldn’t exist today if it wasn’t for organizations like Speak!, who rescue, foster, and nurture disabled dogs, and provide them with loving homes. We’re so thankful that an organization like this exists in Central Ohio.
So, that being said, the cheeseburger and IPA you order this week is benefitting an incredible organization.
