Local restaurant owner closes another chain location; reopens gourmet hot dog spot

Tom Dailey, a local restaurant owner, has permanently closed another go-to spot for soup, salads, and sandwiches.

Zoup! Eatery already said goodbye to their High Street and Tuttle Crossing locations in late January, stating challenges that stemmed from the pandemic as well as customer shortages, staffing issues, and supplier and inventory problems.

Now, their Lennox location at 1543 Lennox Town Lane has faced the same fate.

A June 2nd Facebook post by Zoup! owner, Tom Dailey explains, “Friends… sadly, we ceased operations at our Zoup! Grandview/OSU location today. The ongoing cognitive, physical and financial impacts of my brain injuries last year, combined with other post-COVID realities, have proven to be more than I am capable of handling. I tried to jump back into managing 5 restaurants, against the advice of my own doctors. Even after closing two restaurants in January, I just can’t do it with my current health realities and challenges. We are so sorry to disappoint our team and customers. If anyone has sincere interest in discussing the possibility of acquiring and running this location, please reach out immediately.”

It’s true what they say: when one door closes, another one opens. Although three Zoup! locations have permanently closed, Dailey’s other restaurant concept, Tasty Dawg, has reopened on 107 S. High St. after taking a break, where you can find gourmet hot dogs with over 25 toppings to choose from.
