Longtime Tee Jaye’s, Beechwold Diner employee opening neighborhood diner in Clintonville

When Jenny Dials opens her first-ever restaurant concept, Jenny’s Diner, in Clintonville later this year, she’ll be drawing on her own experience to prepare food and serve guests.

Thankfully, she has plenty of it.

Dials–a veteran in the Clintonville service industry after stints at the old Tee Jaye’s Country Place location at Morse Road and North High Street and Beechwold Diner–has plans to open Jenny’s Diner at 4768 N. High St. The building was formerly home to the Birthright of Columbus thrift store.

“That has just been our area,” Dials said of Clintonville.” I finally found the perfect location, it was a third time’s a charm type of thing. There were two other locations I found that I came closing to signing for, but something just didn’t feel right with them.”

Dials, who is the sole owner but will open the diner with help from friend and longtime co-worker Crystal Peplau, said the new concept is aiming to open sometime in April, but contractors are currently waiting on city approvals to move forward.

Jenny’s diner will serve traditional diner fare (Dials mentioned Rueben sandwiches, biscuits and gravy and pork chops), in addition to a variety of specialty dishes as a nod to her Mexican heritage.

“We plan to make tamales, huevos rancheros and chilaquiles several times a week and on the weekends, with our regular menu served all the time,” Dials said. “And all of it made by me, of course.”
