New plant-based breakfast & coffee co. pops-up around town
Word on the street (or, Instagram, these days) is that there’s a new breakfast pop-up in town that combines a passion for vegan food, good coffee, and heavy metal music.
Blackened Coffee Co. is utilizing the kitchen spaces at Harrison’s on Third and Eight and Sand Tavern to serve “Breakfast for All” of Columbus, focusing on indulgent, plant-based versions of classic breakfast sandwiches. “Both of us are longtime adherents to the vegan diet, so it only makes sense for us to make and serve vegan food. Our goal was, and has been, to make delicious breakfast that the veg head and meat lover will both love, hence our tagline, ‘Breakfast for All,’” says one of the owners, Aaron Best.
All of their coffee is roasted and provided by another Columbus staple, Jennings Java, but repackaged with Blackened’s signature heavy metal logo. Along with their already legendary vegan sandwiches like the Warpig (bakon, egg, cheeze, and arugula on a Blocks everything bagel), they also make a killer breakfast burrito on special occasions.

Collaborating with local bars has its perks – if you’re wanting something a little stronger than coffee, bloody mary’s and mimosas are available, too. While pop-ups are nothing new in Columbus, this mutually beneficial arrangement between these local dive bars and this new pop-up provides these businesses a chance to reach a wider range of potential customers.
Rock out with Blackened Coffee Co. on Saturday, May 20th from 9am – noon at Eight and Sand Tavern, and keep your eye on their Instagram for their weekly pop-up locations
