New restaurant and bar concept taking over former home of Cleaver in Grandview

The Grandview storefront that was previously home to Cleaver didn’t stay empty for long, as a brand-new concept has taken over the former restaurant space, with a spring opening in mind.

The new, family-friendly concept Bobcat Sports Bar is slated to open this spring, it will be located at 1099 W. First Ave. in Grandview. According to co-owner Dimitri Hatzifotinos, Bobcat is hoping to hold a grand opening alongside the start of this year’s March Madness tournament, but noted this date could be pushed back.

Bobcat Sports Bar will feature an arcade filled with video games and other games to keep the younger ones entertained, in addition to 19 different televisions set up throughout the space.

While the Grandview concept will feature broadcasts of most major sports (including OSU and NFL games), according to Hatzifotinos, the new spot will lean into its owners’ love of soccer, first and foremost.

“We’re going to cater to soccer fans; the partners and I (other co-owners include Steve Papineau and Jeff Wagenbrenner) are all soccer fans, we all have season tickets to Crew games, and we want to be part of that community,” Hatzifotinos said. “Plus, Lower.com Field is within walking distance.”

The restaurant and bar will open most days at 3 p.m. to begin showing a variety of European soccer leagues, including Premier England, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1.

Diners can expect a full menu of American comfort food classics, with a focus on items like smash burgers and Panko-crusted chicken with a variety of dipping sauces.

Bobcat Sports Bar offers indoor dining space in addition to a spacious  outdoor patio.
